We value your privacy. The following is our policy regarding what personal information we collect from our constituents, what we do with it, and how you can protect yourself.
This site is owned and operated exclusively by ArtSpan, a non-profit organization in San Francisco, California. We understand and share your concerns about privacy; as a result we've put this page together in order to communicate to you exactly how and why we collect personal information, and how it is used. We also provide clear instructions on how to exercise the option to not have your personal information shared if you so desire (opting-out).
Information you give to us will be used exclusively as you request or to help facilitate serving you. Please read this Privacy Policy for details about what information we collect, how it is used, and how it is protected.
What information does ArtSpan collect?
We collect the following information:
- When you become a member, participate in San Francisco Open Studios, make a donation, or attend an event we ask for information such as your name, address, organization, phone number and e-mail address.
- If you are an artist, we may also ask for information about your studio location, artwork, and discipline.
How is the information used?
We use information about organizations, businesses, and individuals only to showcase the work of our members and to better serve your needs. This includes helping us assess your situation so we can offer better services or to provide you with newsletters or other information. Artists have the option of sharing demographic information with ArtSpan for grant reporting and promotion of SF Open Studios and/or you as an individual.
Is the information shared?
We may share information, which you have marked for publication, with third parties for the purpose of notifying you of arts related activities, events, or discounts that benefit you. Your information may also be shared with members of our staff in order to better assist you. We do not sell or rent this information for any purpose. We regret that we do not and cannot take responsibility for misuse of this information by our partner organizations and/or organizations that harvest information from published documents, such as The SF Open Studios Guide or the Web site. Please be sure to read the Privacy Policies of each organization before you register, sign-up, or call.
Does your site use cookies?
We use cookies only for correct web site display (font size and accent color) and to generate web site usage reports. We do not use cookies to collect information about you.
Do you track site usage?
Yes. We track the movement of our visitors through our site through a variety of means. These include:
- Reports based on links visited
- Reports based on source of entrance to the site domain
- Reports based on search engines and search terms used to find our site
- Reports based on amount of time spent viewing specific sections/pages of the site
Please note that we do not track the movement of individual users. This is because the software we use does not allow for the personal identification of individual users. That is, individuals remain anonymous when visiting until they choose to provide personally identifying information via email, membership fees, donation, or other means. If you have any questions or concerns about our privacy practices, please contact us.
Surveys
ArtSpan surveys its audience and artists to improve programs and services, to gather information for exhibitions, and to ask you if you want to opt into a program. ArtSpan’s surveys utilize a separate system. This inhibits the ability to cross reference a survey response with an individual, stored record.
Protection for Children
Consistent with the Federal Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA), ArtSpan does not knowingly request personal information from anyone under the age of 13 without requesting parental consent first.
