Abstract painting has been described as pictures of things and places that don’t exist. I create artworks that give rise to such spaces, and entice the viewer to explore--both within the painting and within the mind. My work engages and unsettles the viewer; after all, you may miss something if you aren’t careful.
Over the last few years I have shown my art at Art Span’s Open Studios and experienced some amazing conversations. This support has inspired me to continue my practice and expand my voice. I began by using inks on very wet water color paper to create paintings that were organic and fluid. Now I am making geometric abstract paintings that expand traditional color blending studies. Combining these techniques has resulted in artwork that surprises and inspires me. I have only begun to explore the possibilities.
