Artist’s Statement
 Saira Grube
   
The artist’s work is richly textured and highly tactile with many layers of paper, ink, and paint that forms a curiously welcoming world full of submerged imagery. Her distinctive personal style illustrates the artist’s love of unusual imagery and bold, yet subtle colors which blend together to create a sense of cohesion in her work.

The pieces are complicated and intense with rich colors and many layers of subtle detail. They may include lush kelp forests, hidden treasures, odd dwellings and remnants of forgotten artifacts.

They are intriguingly entangled by a delicately dreamlike landscape filled with dilapidated structures, ancient ruins, and rambling, untamed gardens. The work focuses on the often unrecognized beauty that happens as nature slowly overtakes civilization.

The artist often finds that that when she creates a piece, it evolves unexpectedly, almost as though it has an energy and a life all of its own.
