My work seeks to provoke contemplation about our relationship with the environment. For two decades, I've photographed landscapes of my native Iceland, witnessing first-hand the impacts of climate change. Creating a tangible representation of the evolving landscape, I am hand cutting photographs and layering them. Visualizing the earth's erosion, I remove parts of the landscape revealing black or text addressing global warming. Recently, inspired by the persistence of life growing from concrete cracks, I am creating pieces with a similar pattern. Indicating renewal and hope they become a testament to nature's remarkable ability to endure. I am also wrapping branches with photographs and weaving together elements of the landscape to encapsulate both its devastation and the potential for human intervention. My hope is that this work serves not only as a visual narrative but as a call to action, urging us to confront and address the challenges facing our planet.
